Baltimore Chapter of the American Guild of Organists
Enriching lives through organ and choral music

Fall Social

The weather couldn't dampen the music-making, or fellowship at our opening Fall Social. Long-time Baltimore AGO member Michael Gaffney, Director of Music at St. Dominic's Roman Catholic  Church, Hamilton, welcomed members of the Guild to his Parkville home, complete with an 86 rank pipe organ in the Organ Hall!

The instrument, which is made up of parts from at least a half dozen other pipe organs, represents a 20-year labor of love. A large portion of the organ came from an auction held in 1994 when the contents of the Moller Organ Factory in Hagerstown, MD was put up on auction.

The Organ Hall, which was built as an addition onto his home, is set approximately 3' below ground level and is double-insulated for soundproofing purposes. "The neighbors have no idea what I have in here," says Gaffney.

Please join us next month for our Ecumenical Prayer Service on October 7, 2019 at Shrine of the Little Flower.
