23/24 Scholarship Recipients

In the Baltimore Chapter’s Organ Scholars program, the chapter pays half the cost of lessons for organ students for a year,
provides them with organ shoes, and a one-year membership to the AGO (including a subscription to The American Organist).

Meet the 2023/2024 Organ Scholars

Kevin Paton-Cole

Kevin is a Sierra Leonean American organist who studied music at the Johns Hopkins Peabody Institute for five years earning both a Bachelor and Master of Music Degree in Voice Performance, Vocal Pedagogy and a minor in Organ Performance. His teachers include world-renowned American baritone William Sharp for voice, and Dr. Daniel Aune for organ performance. He is currently the organist at Our Lady of Grace Parish, Parkton, MD, where he also serves as Music Director. Kevin is studying with chapter member Marvin Mills.

Allen BusKirk

Allen Buskirk studies with chapter member Bert Landman at Church of the Redeemer. Allen played classical and jazz piano as a young man and then earned a master’s degree in choral conducting. He loves early music and is currently infatuated with the preludes and chorale settings of Buxtehude. In the coming years Allen hopes to work as an organist/choirmaster in the Baltimore area.
