A Message from Our Regional Councilor

The death of our dear friend and colleague Michael Britt has stunned and saddened us all. His reputation as an excellent musician, strong leader, and compassionate friend extends far beyond our chapter, city, state, and even country. His life was a blessing to all of us. In addition to serving in various leadership roles for the Baltimore AGO chapter, Michael continued to serve as an Exam Coordinator. (The Mid-Atlantic region has four exam centers—Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Metro New Jersey.) In this capacity, he arranged for proctors for the written and performing parts of the various exams—Choirmaster, Service Playing, Colleague, Associate, and Fellow. He arranged for practice times and was diligent in preserving confidentiality and in reporting results to the AGO headquarters. Many of you achieved your AGO certification through Michael’s gracious leadership.

Now, in addition to the huge gap Michael has left in our hearts, our chapter has a gap regarding this important role. I hope you will consider stepping up and offering to serve as Exam Coordinator. Do it for our chapter, our region, our Guild, and even for the legacy of Michael. Please contact me if you would like to have this discussion with me.

Take care of yourselves and each other
