March 2023

When speaking with a friend, several days ago, she mentioned an activity with which she is involved and said “You get out of it what you put into it”. I thought, isn’t that true of all the things we value: our relationships, our vocation, our passions, and even our AGO membership. Put it into religious terms “Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also”.

Sometimes people say, I don’t know why I keep my AGO membership, I’m not getting anything out of it. This causes me to ask, what are they putting into it, and what are they willing to put into it.

Over the past months, I have been exhorting our members to get involved, to help transform the Baltimore AGO into what they want it to be. In this issue of Pipe & Pedal, we are announcing the slate of nominees for two openings on the Executive Committee. Here are four people who are willing to put their passion and energy into our chapter. I applaud their willingness to serve and look forward to what they will contribute. Unfortunately, we can’t elect all four. However, we will gladly find a place for each of them to offer their talents. I hope that you will follow their example, and offer yourself, your vision, your talents. We welcome and encourage your involvement. What are you willing to put into Baltimore AGO?

To quote song from our youth musical, which just ran this past weekend, “We are stronger together”.

Peace,

Bert
